I was a Bridesmaid and he was a Groomsmen....yea yea yea you have all heard the story!!!! Well for those of you who haven't: Alex and I met at my brother and sister-in-law's wedding in August of 2013. I thought he had a girlfriend there, no idea why, and I was with a family friend who was a plus one. After about an hour into the reception I finally turned to him and asked him why he was being so rude to his girlfriend and hanging out with me. (I am pretty sure that is exactly the way I said it ;)) To which he responded, with a questioning look, what girlfriend? We had such a great time dancing and yes going to the after-after party at Pussers (who doesn't???). After that, we went our separate ways...him to the West Coast, where I had spent my first 4 years in the Navy, and me back to D.C. where I had been living for the last few years. We talked every day and soon after we went on our first official date and the rest as they say is history!!! We fell in love and we can't wait to spend the rest of our lives together.

Alex's side of the story: She said yes!
Samantha's side of the story: I was flying out for the Marine Corps Ball and prior to flying out, in one of our usual conversations, he asked me if I would like to go hiking on that Friday? In my mind, I immediately thought he was going to propose. Not because we were going hiking, but because he was going to get the day off of work!!!!! He never did that. Then when I landed on Thursday night, he picked me up and we went over to my brother and sister-in-laws house (you can see a trend with these two) where he was staying. He immediately told me that we were going to take Atlas (the hyper of the two dogs) on the hike with us because the next day was Halloween and Josh and Amanda were throwing a party so they wanted to tire him out. I thought to myself, there is no way he is going to bring this hyper dog to propose to me. Then on the day of, the entire hike up he kept asking me if I wanted to even go to the top? In my mind, the man had no plan. Finally, on top of the mountain he started pointing out different features of the landscape talking about pilot stuff, to which I thought, "honey, I love you, but I could give two craps to which peak you call back to tower" come to find out later he was just trying to get me to look away. Smart man! We got engaged on Halloween (one of my favorite days!!!)
